Ryan Taylor New Dash Core CEO, Founder Evan Duffield Moves to Advisory Role

Ryan Taylor has been promoted to CEO of the Dash Core Team as founder Evan Duffield moves to an advisory role, decentralizing the Dash ecosystem.
The Dash Core Team, long headed up by founder Evan Duffield, oversees the development of Dash, an integral part of the greater Dash DAO (decentralized autonomous organization). The transition to Taylor as CEO frees up the founder to work on expanding other areas of the ecosystem. According to Duffield, this transition was long in the making and therefore relatively seamless:
“For the last several months, daily operations and technology development at Dash Core have been led by now-CEO Ryan Taylor and CTO Andy Freer. Our most recent software upgrade – deployed in February – was developed and released without my hands-on involvement. Thanks to the Dash Core, our developers, advisers, masternode operators and every single user around the world, the upgrade was the smoothest yet.”
Taylor sees his new role as an opportunity to utilize Dash’s impressive operating budget to develop the currency for maximum usability for the average person:
“The Dash Core team is committed to ensuring that we follow the grand vision Evan laid for Dash. Today, we have extensive resources in place to deliver that vision. Dash is fast becoming a popular payment option for many thousands of people around the world, and we look forward to announcing further progress in the near future as we create compelling and relevant solutions aimed at everyday people.”
No founding member now has any direct control over Dash’s development
This move completes a shift away from direct control over Dash’s development by any founding member. During the Dash Core offices open house in Scottsdale last month, Duffield announced that he had deactivated all his masternodes, meaning that he no longer has a direct vote in how Dash’s treasury is spent. He also pledged 80% of his personal wealth to community projects, on which he intends to focus his attention as Dash as a whole grows to reach as many people as possible.
The net result of this reorganization is that, while sole remaining founding member Duffield still plans on remaining active in Dash’s growth, and is incentivized to see it continue to succeed, no founder now controls Dash directly in any way. This move to further decentralize the currency also displays great faith in Dash’s future, Core team, and community.
Dash’s DAO decentralizes with multiple complementary entities
While Dash Core remains a large entity in the Dash ecosystem, it is by no means the only one. The Dash Force, parent organization of Dash Force News, is currently the second-largest organization in the Dash DAO, with three full-time members and six part-time. According to Duffield, a multi-entity DAO was part of the Dash vision all along.
“Since the beginning, my ambition was to create a sustainable and resilient blockchain project without any singular points of failure. Today’s announcement has been in development for many months, and I am proud to have helped Dash become the extraordinary project it is today.”
Taylor, who specifically mentioned the Dash Force in the forum post announcing his promotion, praised the Dash network’s growth and increasing decentralization:
“The beauty of a blockchain-based project is decentralization, the dispersion and distribution of functions and powers. Since its inception, Dash has been the benchmark of decentralized success; our unique governance model ensures an ownership mindset that is designed to improve the state and functionality of the Dash network and increase the network’s value. Together with Evan, we built the world’s first self-sustainable decentralized autonomous organization with a substantial organic budget, and there’s so much more to come.”

Jaxx Successfully Re-Adds Dash Into iPhone Wallet

After more than a six-month standoff with Apple, Jaxx has re-released an iOS version of its wallet including Dash support, meaning iPhone users finally have a mobile option for Dash.
Late last summer, Apple demanded that all Dash wallets be pulled from apps in the App Store, citing that Dash was not an approved cryptocurrency. This left iPhone users without a mobile option for Dash for over six months. Now, Jaxx has obtained Apple’s approval for re-inclusion of Dash, and the updated version of the wallet has hit the App Store worldwide.
Dash’s struggle with Apple
Dash has had a continuing struggle with Apple over inclusion of its wallets for iPhone devices. After adding Dash to its wallet, Jaxx was later informed that it must remove Dash support from the iPhone version of its wallet, as it was not one of its very short list of approved digital currencies. The company’s guidelines on the criteria for approved cryptocurrencies remain extremely cryptic, offering no clear path forward for Dash to be eventually approved. This became even more confusing after both Monero and Zcash, highly private currencies, received Apple’s blessing (although only Zcash was eventually included in the wallet).
Jaxx successfully managed to get a version of their wallet that included Dash approved into the App Store, however they decided to wait for the major platform overhaul earlier this year before officially submitting a Dash-submitted wallet, as Jaxx CEO Anthony Di Iorio announced on Twitter:

Timing was right for us to resubmit #jaxx #dashpay for iOS. It's being reviewed now. Fingers crossed. @jaxx_io

Dash’s community easy to work with
The process of dealing with Apple over its bizarre removal of Dash has been long and frustrating, both for the Jaxx team and the greater Dash community. However, this experience was less challenging than it might have been because of the nature of the community, which according to Di Iorio has been a pleasure to work, in particular on Reddit, a venue notorious for difficult behavior:

#dash community super cool 2 work with. Top points on all fronts, includ. r/dashpay. Rarity for a #reddit channel. @jaxx_io @enlightperform

Dash DAO Funds Cryptocurrency’s First Proprietary News Service

Dash’s DAO has funded the first news service run by a digital currency itself.
A project of the Dash Force community initiative, the newly-launched Dash Force News is a Dash-centered news site funded by Dash’s DAO, or decentralized autonomous organization.
The Dash Force is a DAO-funded community project meant to provide grassroots support and to grow the greater Dash ecosystem. The project runs several operations including online commentary participation, meetup management and incentives, grassroots business outreach, and other initiatives to grow Dash outside of the scope of the official core team. A community resource for news and general information was the next logical step.
Cryptocurrency’s first proprietary news site
Dash Force News serves as the first ever independent news site run with proceeds directly from a cryptocurrency’s coin supply itself. Rather than being run and funded by a cryptocurrency’s core development team, a nonprofit organization, or as a business, seeking funding directly from the Dash DAO allows the project to pull its support from the currency itself, while at the same time maintaining independence from the core team of founders and developers.
Conceived by Dash Force founder and longtime community member Mastermined, the publication was made possible by bringing on two newer Dash Force members, cryptocurrency journalist Joël Valenzuela as chief editor, and Dash international outreach coordinator Mark Mason as webmaster and public relations director.
According to Mark, this new DAO-funded model will ensure that Dash Force News delivers the content to serve the needs of the greater Dash community:
“Dash Force is funded by the Dash DAO so we are fully committed to the Dash community to deliver high calibre content and be on the front lines breaking exclusive news.”
A coverage gap for Dash
The creation of Dash Force News serves to fill a need in coverage for Dash. As the currency grows in popularity and market cap, it has nonetheless struggled to maintain the same consistency and depth of news coverage as other top coins. Mark sees the launch of this new publication as an opportunity to serve that need:
“I strongly believe Dash has the most genuine friendly community in the crypto space. Not only will Dash Force News fulfill a well needed solution for the Dash community it will also help amplify Dash to open doors to new audiences with the ultimate objective of wide spread adoption.”
