The Dash Treasury has funded 3 different debit cards none of which are currently available to residents of the United States.
TenX card
Dash Debit Card ready by Mid-April Owner: julianhosp (added on 2017-03-29) 305 DASH ($84.26/D) approximately $25,700 at date added. Votes: 773 Yes / 118 No / 40 Abstain. The pre-proposal thread. This has been previously covered on DFN TenX Dash Debit Card Slipping Dates and TenX Debuts New Dash Debit Card.
The current status is still that the card is in “limited release” for Dash and should be available in the US some time before the end of this year.
DashPay Card
DASHPayCard – DASH Branded Debit Card + Fiat/Dash Integration
Owner: CharlieShrem 450 DASH (added on 2017-03-16) Votes:1343 Yes / 64 No / 11 Abstain
In the Dash Forum Pre-proposal discussion Charlie said:
I’m asking for 450 DASH which will cover a 3 month budget
The costs will cover the following:
– Initial 1 time card program fee is 150 DASH
– Development costs and maintenance 75 DASH per month.
– Customer support is 25 DASH per month.
I estimate that I can get the cards into your hands in 3 months. After that, I can do a 6 months to 1 year proposal for program maintenance.
– I will also provide weekly status updates.
For a video update on this card go to the DFN article Charlie Shrem answers 14 questions about the NEW Dash Pay Card!
This “long awaited” card was last promised to be available by the end of August. That date has past with no further updates. To be kind Mr Shrem has not provided the level of status updates he promised. That is troubling since he had overwhelming support by the masternode owners based on his reputation.
Payza
The “Charlie Shrem Card” is to be built on the Payza Processing system. They also offer their own debit card. It is available in the US – at this point it seems to be the only one you can order for delivery in the United States. There are a lot of fees.
The card itself cost $19.95 delivered in the US. You can use Dash to pay for it but you have to load Dash into your “wallet” which auto converts it into USD. I loaded some Dash to see how that worked. I was not happy to see I lost 12% from when I sent it to what the balance I got after it was loaded / converted to USD.
To get my money out I will have to convert to Bitcoin and wait “3 to 5 business days.” In other words I just wasted most of my $25 in Dash.
Spectrocoin
This is a proposal from March 2016. It apparently was successfully completed and Dash can be used with the card though the focus is Bitcoin.
Dash Debit Card integration to SpectroCoin.com
Owner: VytautasK 950 DASH (added on 2016-03-20) Votes:1222 Yes / 303 No / 0 Abstain
This proposal is to suggest issuing of DASH debit card by integration of DASH to SpectroCoin.com wallet. The card will be both physical and virtual and will let DASH users to spend their holdings everywhere where MasterCard or Visa is accepted. We are managing the wallet since 2013 and we have been issuing debit cards for bitcoin users for more than a year. On top of this the integration would mean that DASH users will be able to exchange DASH to fiat, buy DASH, pay with DASH at our payment processor, so merchants could receive fiat as well as use Drupal, Magento, opencart, PrestaShop, WHMCS plug-ins.
Unfortunately the card is not available in the US and if you can find the word “Dash” on their website you are lucky. Their twitter person assured me they use Dash but not for me in Florida.
Other Dash Debit Cards
Dash Force News has a page devoted to Dash debit cards.
The short version is none are available in the US … thanks Federal Government you are really serving your citizens well protecting us from … something I guess … oh yeah moving our money out of the US banking system and the watchful eye of the IRS.
Shakepay
ShakePay to Cancel Cards from Many Countries, More Dash Card Options Needed this DFN article from Aug 28th says it all. A previous article reviewed how the card worked.
Wirex
The Wirex wallet has an added benefit of allowing Altcoin to be held for future conversion to Bitcoin. That means that Wirex cardholders can now accept a variety of Altcoin payments: ether, litecoin, monero, lisk, ripple, dash, DAO as well as many others.
No United States users wanted here ;-(
Bitwala
Again no USA users welcome.

Unfortunately, they are not able to ship Uquid Visa Cards to users who reside in the following countries …. correct the United States is on that list.
Conclusion
Some of the features offered by these cards would be great to have for those of us that are still “banked.” Being able to move “effortlessly” from fiat to crypto / into or out of a checking account / use an ATM to get fiat and all with reasonable costs would be nice. But we can’t rely on the existing system with its special interests. We need to continue to build new and better solutions using Dash.
It is a shame, but not surprising, that incumbent banks and/or government entities are making it hard to adopt and choose this type of technology as a main way one can handle their finances. If there was a visa or other credit card backed debit card that can very easily go from DASH to fiat and back again with little to no fees, and little to no brain power required to do so… then I would probably be moving a significant portion of my money onto DASH.
Yet with a good and trustable solution to this ease of use and/or ease of transfer into and out of fiat currency… Then I just can’t really do it. I am very much hoping evolution can make it easier to do this exchange function in time. DASH needs desperately a solid DASH based decentralized exchange solution so we don’t have to trust in the coin base or other companies in other to do this still needed function of exchange from DASH to fiat and back.
I am hoping something comes about in due to. Especially after evolution starts going live!
I am not sure but I believe Coinbase, had about 150 milion in funding to set it up, If dash is marketcap is able to grow another 10x, we should start looking into setting up our own version of Coinbase, or just treating Coinbase with it, so that they will have integrate us, or be out competed by the DASH version of coinbase.
Thanks for the update and other info
As DASH grows it becomes more an more important to setup a legal team, which will take legal action if some one does not deliver on their contract, with the dash masternodes. In fact a nice place to start would to build in a contract framework into the masternode proposal system, which would make it legally binding once the proposal has become active.
